WELCOME TO FREE SKOOL! We look forward to learning with you this summer!

WHAT IS FREE SKOOL? From New York to Oregon, Mendocino Coast Free Skool is part of a grassroots effort to share skills that enhance quality of life, build community, encourage sustainability and open minds. In California, Mendocino Coast Free Skool joins Free Skool Santa Cruz and Barrington Collective Free Skool in Berkeley in encouraging Californians to share skills, information and knowledge for the betterment of all. A project of the 501C3 nonprofit Mendocino Coast Environmental Center.

WHAT DOES IT COST? All classes are FREE. Donations to the instructor or to the Free Skool are welcome. Some classes require you to bring a few materials, which will be listed in the notes on the classes. If this is difficult, ask the instructor and we will try to help.

WHAT ABOUT YOUTH? MCFS is open to people of all ages. We believe there is inherent value in multigenerational learning and we want this special and rare all-ages approach to work! Parents, please plan to attend with your children or get teacher permission prior to leaving your children at class. Remember, all our teachers are volunteers!
HOW DO I SIGN UP? Read all the class notes. Some classes require pre-registration or calling ahead for directions. Other classes are open to all, but it is helpful to pre-register so we will know that folks are interested.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: By participating in MCFS you are assuming liability for your own and your family’s well being. Please dress appropriately, drive safely and look out for your neighbors. All activities during all classes and events are voluntary, and all are organized by nonprofessional volunteers. MCFS does not insure you against damage or loss.
